The establishment of a new Personal Status Law in Abu Dhabi for non-Muslims is a significant step forward in the government’s efforts to ensure the well-being of all inhabitants. Aside from marriage, divorce, and child custody, the law also covers inheritance difficulties and non-Muslim paternity verification.

What does the new marriage laws in the UAE state

According to a new decree announced on Sunday by Abu Dhabi’s ruler, non-Muslims would be permitted to marry, divorce, and have joint custody of their children under civil law. The law is a first not only for the UAE and the region, but also for the world, as it tries to cover every facet of non-Muslims’ family life and assist in resolving any disputes that may arise.

Furthermore, all procedures of the new court in question will be multilingual (Arabic and English) to make judicial procedures easier to comprehend.
